The Foundation
Thane Educational Foundation (TEF) proposes the implementation of the EducationAccess & Examination Support Program (EESP) to support indigent students who are unable to pay school and national examination fees. Across many communities, academically capable students are forced to drop out of school or miss critical examinations such as WAEC, JAMB, and NECO due to financial hardship.
This program seeks to remove financial barriers to education by directly paying school and examination fees for verified indigent students, while also providing mentorship and academic guidance. The initiative will promote equity, reduce dropout rates, and improve access to tertiary education for vulnerable youth.
BACKGROUND AND PROBLEM STATEMENT
Education remains one of the most effective tools for poverty reduction and national development. However, many students from low-income households face significant challenges accessing education due to the rising cost of school fees and mandatory national examinations.
In Nigeria, fees for WAEC, JAMB, and NECO,POLYTHECNICS,COLLEGE OF EDUCATIONS,UNIVERISTIES pose a major barrier for indigent families. As a result:
- Students miss examinations despite academic readiness
- Dropout rates increase in public secondary schools
- Talented students are denied opportunities for higher education
There is a critical need for a structured, transparent, and sustainable intervention to support these students. Thane Educational Foundation seeks to address this gap through a targeted education support program.
